Manitoba Museum Buffalo Hunt Window Restoration

Commercial Project | Leaded/ Stained Glass

Installed in the ceiling of in the former Urban Galleries Movie Theater in the Manitoba Museum. This lovely window depicting an old west buffalo hunt had slowly been starting to sag and was on the verge of causing major damage to its hand painted glass components. We were hired to remove the windows from the museum and transport them to our studio where we would then give the windows a complete restoration.  This involved carefully removing all the original glass from its lead came structure and then cataloging each piece to ensure correct reconstruction. The glass was carefully cleaned and then reassembled using new lead. We custom designed metal frames to install the windows into and then delivered the windows back to the museum for safe storage until they find a new home for them in the museum.
