Horse Portrait

This was a project we completed as a special gift for our client’s mother who recently retired. The piece was themed around her beloved horse “Sammy”. We were tasked with depicting Sammy, set in a stylized prairie landscape as well as incorporating her Mother’s favorite flower, the oriental poppy. To ensure Sammy was the star of the piece we kept the landscape simple and decided to incorporate the poppies in a stylized Art Nouveau style, which frames Sammy just right. The piece features hand rolled glass in three shades of brown for Sammy, the background glass is all machine rolled with hand painted details. The poppies have been stenciled using glass powders and then kiln fired in place and lastly hand painted details to finish them off.
